His powerful voice and the integration of hip-hop and R&B is what has made him a pioneer of soul-trap. The song from his album "Heart on Ice" became a viral hit through YouTube, TikTok, and it ranked 25 on the Hot 100 chart on Billboard. Wave's debut album Ghetto Gospel (2019) peaked at 10 on the US Billboard 200. The album that followed Pray 4 Love (2020), peaked at number 2 on the Billboard 100, and featured the hit song "Rags2Riches", which was a top 12 hit on the Hot 100. The third album, SoulFly (2021), was his debut album at the number 1 spot. It was his first album to chart. The career of Wave began in 2016 with the release his mixtape, Hunger Games Vol. 1. Prior to joining Alamo Records, he released several mixtapes by himself. On June 14 the 14th of June, 2019, he dropped his mixtape PTSD with the track "Heart on Ice". The song was viral on YouTube, TikTok and reached 25th in the Billboard Hot 100. [7] Wave's debut album, Ghetto Gospel, was released on November 1, 2019. It ranked 10 on the US Billboard 200. On April 3, 2020, Rod Wave released his second album, "Pray 4 Love". It debuted at the 2 spot on Billboard 200. The deluxe version was released on August 7. [9] Many songs from the album charted in the Billboard Hot 100. "S" (featuring ATR son Son) made it to number 12 on the Hot 100. It became the song with the highest chart position. Wave was part of XXL's 2019 Freshman class on August 11 in 2020. Wave informed XXL's 2020 Freshman Class in July of 2020 that he was at work on his third album. The album was originally scheduled to be released on August 27, 2020. 2 On March 6 2021, the singer revealed the tracks for SoulFly. The album includes the songs "Street Runner" and "Tombstone" his highest-charting single that reached the top 11 on the Hot 100.
