Taylor
Taylor Swift is that rarest of pop phenomena A superstar who managed to completely cross over from the country music scene to making her an iconic celebrity and then conquering the world in the process. Swift shed her roots in the country genre like a second skin and showed that she had the best pop sensibility of her generation. Swift was the only singer/songwriter who knew how to take the popular zeitgeist out on the road. Swift's first hits, particularly their neo tribute to Tim McGraw, showed off her skills. But her 2008 album Fearless showcased a writer who was re-discovering herself and finding a large audience. Fearless had a great success not only in the United States, having six platinum-certified singles. In fact, the Top Ten songs Love Story and You Belong with Me were the main reasons for this. But, it also did very well across the globe. Swift managed to build upon her progress by releasing Speak Now almost two year later. Swift's popularity grew over the course of the three albums that followed - Red (2012) 1989 (2014) and Reputation (2017). Swift was now firmly established within a genre where she belonged. Even though she had slowed her production with folklore, and Evermore releases in 2020 she was leading the way in pop music.
