Taylor
Taylor Swift was a rarity in pop: she is the only celebrity to have transitioned from the traditional to the mainstream, and to become a global pop culture icon. Swift dropped country as if it was a second layer and proved that she is perhaps the smartest pop-singer/songwriter her generation. Someone who is able to harness the zeitgeist to make it personal, and sing in the other direction. Swift's early songs, including her neo celebration of Tim McGraw, showed off the talents of her. The album from 2008 Fearless revealed a songwriter who was re-discovering herself and gaining a huge following. Fearless was a huge success worldwide but not only in the United States (where it received with six platinum awards for Top Ten Hits Love Story and "You Belong with Me") but in Canada, Australia and the U.K. as well as other nations. Swift soared to the top of the charts with Speak Now. Swift's popularity grew through her three subsequent albums - Red (2012), 1989 (2014) and Reputation (2017). Swift became a household name within a genre where she belonged. Her popularity grew even after she reformulated her approach in 2020's more streamlined siblings Folklore (and Evermore) and stayed in the forefront of pop culture.
